Making The World More Beautiful One Mala at a Time

Welcome to my shop LulubeadsStudio!

My jewelry journey began about as far back as I can remember. As the story goes, when I was two years old, My Grandmother Irene gave me an old (vintage) pink satin jewelry box for Christmas filled with shiny pink beaded jewelry. I was hooked and it was the only thing I played with! My love of art brought me to jewelry making in high school where I learned the simple joy of taking raw materials and turning them into wearable art and objects of beauty. After struggling to find my passion in college, and realizing I could turn a past hobby into a career, I went to trade school to learn jewelry making while also taking an apprenticeship with a well known local designer in my hometown of Milwaukee. For 5 years I worked "the bench" as a professional Goldsmith but the reality of being a bench jeweler was much more about repairing jewelry and much less about designing and making it, my true passion. My career evolved into designing jewelry with clients and sales. I also became a student again at The Gemological Institute of America, The World's foremost authority on diamonds and gemstones, completing my Graduate Gemologist degree in 2012.

Through all of this, my growing love of yoga and daily practice, guided and grounded me, and healed me after injury. It is this journey that has enabled me to merge my jewelry and gemstone knowledge with my inner Yogini.

Lulu Beads Studio was born in Scottsdale after a hiatus and multiple moves for my husband's career. It was time to get back to my roots as a Jeweler. Mala beads, also known as Buddhist Prayer beads, had been in my heart for a while. I'd dream of all the beautiful gemstones I could make them with! Each piece I create is designed and made by hand in my home studio. The beads are sourced from the many trusted vendors I have worked with over the years. Each Mala is made of the finest materials and knotted by hand.

Lulu Beads Studio specializes in handcrafted Mala necklaces and Yoga jewelry made in Scottsdale AZ. Rooted in Buddhism, A Mala necklace is traditionally made of 108 beads and used in meditation. Lulu Beads Studio's Malas are designed to be a timeless piece of jewelry, on and off the yoga mat!

Since the beginning of my career, I have been known for custom design. I have brought this passion and skill to Lulu Beads Studio, designing one of a kind pieces for individuals all over the country. Malas are very personal! I love the collaboration of learning what people are looking to manifest in their lives, the colors and gemstones they are drawn too and then creating wearable art that represents their own uniqueness. It's also fascinating to see which Malas people choose from my collection and why... They typically say; "this one speaks to me, " or "I can feel the energy." When I tell them the different energy properties of a gemstone in a particular Mala they've chosen, it always seems to resonate with them in some way. It's like that Mala was made for them! And it was;)

I am most proud of the Jewelry I make, I am a perfectionist and they are all SO beautiful and beautifully made! When I complete a piece, I feel a huge sense of pride. I think my experience as a Designer, Jeweler and Gemologist really is unique in Mala jewelry.

When I'm not designing and making Jewelry, I enjoy spending time with My husband, four fur babies, friends and family... and of course, practicing yoga!

If you have an Idea for a custom piece, or a special meaning you'd like to convey with your Mala, I'd love to hear it! Just send me a message:)

Namaste! ~Lisa
